Jewish Literary Salon was an integral part of Krakow’s Kazimierz cultural life. The Salon was working from 2006 to 2014. It was a place for open discussions about literature, meetings with writers with Jewish origin or writing about Jewish life.
This meeting is a great opportunity for learning about modern literature, gaining better understanding and discussions on important and sometimes hard topics. Broadly defined Jewish topics were both Jewish history, life in Israel, politics, religion, art and modern Jewish life as well as the problem of identity.
Artists, during their talk with Anna Makówka-Kwapisiewicz, presented their opinions on art, literature, Jewish culture, very often engaging audience in discussion. The meeting in March with Agnieszka Graff was included in the Polish nationwide program organized by Porozumienie Kobiet 8 Marca.
In 2009 we broaden our program by inviting a photographer, publisher, and critic Wojciech Wilczyk to talk about his recently published photo album about synagogues in Poland. We decided to start inviting artists who work with visual arts.
In 2010 the project was financed by Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego).
Project implemented between 2006 and 2014.
