Anti-semitism is not an opinion
In the recent years, we could observe in Poland a growing interest in the Jewish culture. Each bigger city has every year at least one festival, which is promoting this culture. Nevertheless, according to the studies, anti-semitic opinions are still popular in Poland. How can we define today’s anti-semitism? How to teach about the Jewish community without passing or reinforcing stereotypes about Jews?
Jewish Association Czulent, together with Autonomia Foundation, implementing the project “Anti-semitism is not an opinion”, will undertake innovatory actions, which in effect would raise awareness on prevention of anti-semitism, name it and get to know its forms in Poland.
In the project, we will concentrate on three main activities:
- Creation of innovative and updated anti-discrimination manual, focusing on prevention of anti-semitic attitudes. The manual would include: analysis of the educational handbooks, educational aids and teachers’ programs, educational/training materials for trainers; reports on the modern anti-semitism in Poland as well as exemplary anti-discrimination activities.
- Writing of special manual for educators of pre-school and early-school teaching on the Jewish community.
- Compiling, by artists, special workbook for kids. Exercises, that would be included in it, would allow, in attractive for young person form, to get to know – free from prejudices information on Jewish community. Workbook is going to be part of handbook for educators of pre-school and early-school teaching.
During the conduct of the project, workshops and seminar would be organized, and by the end of the project: conference in Warsaw. Team project is composed by people of rich trainers’, sociological, psychological, historical and artistic experience. They have long experience in the field of combating discrimination, popularising of the knowledge free from stereotypes and creating programs for children, youth and others.
