Roma Genocide Remembrance Initiative 2013 \u201eConference and Commemoration\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n

\u201cRoma Genocide Remembrance Initiative 2013\u201d was an international educational and commemorative initiative co-created by the Jewish Association Czulent in cooperation with the TernYpe \u2013 International Roma Youth Network. The aim of the project was to raise awareness about the genocide of Roma people during World War II and to counter contemporary forms of racism, hate speech, and antigypsyism in Europe. The project was addressed to young Europeans, non-governmental organizations, and public institutions, strengthening their competencies in the field of human rights and anti-discrimination education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commemoration of the Roma genocide and the building of historical memory<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The central element of the initiative was a series of events held on August 2, 2013, in Krak\u00f3w and Auschwitz\u2014on the day commemorating the Roma genocide. Approximately 300 young people from across Europe took part in the meetings. The project combined educational activities with commemorative practices, contributing to the strengthening of European historical memory and the recognition of the fate of Roma people as an integral part of the history of World War II. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

International youth cooperation and countering antigypsyism<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As part of the initiative, an international youth conference was organized, bringing together participants from over 15 countries\u2014young Roma and non-Roma individuals, representatives of non-governmental organizations, experts, and human rights defenders. The project created a platform for cooperation and intercultural dialogue aimed at countering stereotypes and prejudice against the Roma community, while strengthening the role of young people as leaders of social change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening civic attitudes in Europe<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The initiative contributed to raising awareness among young Europeans of their responsibility to counter discrimination and promote human rights. The project supported the development of lasting cooperation networks among youth organizations and efforts to recognize August 2 as the official European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day. It serves as an example of an effective combination of historical education, youth activism, and actions promoting equality and inclusion. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
