<\/p>\n\n

The analysis of antisemitism in the context of Polish politics and societal attitudes has become increasingly important in light of its growing politicization and the role that antisemitism plays in shaping political image. Since the 1990s, we have observed the use of the word “Jew” as a negative communication tool directed at representatives of various political options. Examples include figures such as Tadeusz Mazowiecki and Aleksander Kwa\u015bniewski, as well as more contemporary participants in the Polish political scene, including Lech Kaczy\u0144ski, Andrzej Duda, and Rafa\u0142 Trzaskowski. <\/p>\n\n

Since 2018, when antisemitism became an official point of the program of one of the political parties with significant public support, we have observed an increase in its politicization. This phenomenon has become not only a tool for polarizing society but also a way to mobilize voters. This practice was particularly evident during the 2020 presidential elections, as noted by observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), who pointed to antisemitism as a significant element of the political discourse during the election campaign. <\/p>\n\n

It is important to emphasize that in discussions about antisemitism in Poland, there is often an attempt to minimize its presence by referring to the “real” antisemitism currently occurring in other European countries, such as France, Germany, or the United Kingdom. However, antisemitism in Poland and in the Visegr\u00e1d Group countries does exist, has its specific contexts, and is characterized by different manifestations. <\/p>\n\n

Currently, antisemitism in Poland is not only highly politicized, but also serves as a tool for disinformation, societal polarization, and voter mobilization. T These actions have a significant impact on shaping social attitudes toward minority groups and may contribute to increased acceptance of violence against them, posing a serious threat to public order and democracy. In response to these challenges, the Jewish Association Czulent has undertaken monitoring of content as part of a pilot project, aimed at understanding and countering this phenomenon in Polish society.<\/p>\n\n

In this publication, we present the research findings in the hope that policymakers and decision-makers will engage in a substantive discussion on the phenomenon of hate crimes on the internet and on building the political capacity needed to address this issue. We aim to draw attention to the necessity of treating this problem as a significant threat to public safety, one that seeks to spread disinformation, generate intergroup conflicts, and foster unrest within communities.<\/p>\n\n

Looking at solutions from other European countries, we encourage political parties to implement internal procedures for monitoring their content to avoid unintentionally reinforcing stereotypes about different social groups. Examples of such actions can be found in the practices of other countries, where political parties effectively monitor and regulate hate speech published by their members and activists. <\/p>\n\n
