Today the Manual “How to talk and write about minority groups” was published. We particularly recommend the chapter \u201cHow to talk and write about Jews\u201d by Anna Mak\u00f3wka-Kwapisiewicz and Anna Zieli\u0144ska from our association. The publication is addressed mainly to the media, but also to anyone who wants to use language that is non-discriminatory and free of stereotypes.<\/p>\n\n

The guide was created on the initiative of the FleishmanHillard agency, in substantive cooperation with Prof. Dr. Ewa Kolodziejek and under the patronage of the National Council for the Polish Language and the Ombudsman. As a team at FleishmanHillard – specialists in the field of communications – we feel a shared responsibility for the language of public debate. We want it to accurately describe reality, not exclude or hurt. This goal guides our campaign, of whose element is our Manual.<\/p>\n\n

We especially recommend it to journalists, public speakers and those who work as media experts. We also recommend it to professionals involved in communication, including internal communication, developing culture and relationships in workplaces.<\/p>\n\n

The manual was created in collaboration with civil society partners, individuals and organizations that deal with issues of groups exposed to discrimination on a daily basis, who helping, educating, fighting prejudice. These are recommendations coming from the organization – how to talk and write empathetically.<\/p>\n\n

In the Manual, among other groups described, we also included women-although this group makes up the majority of the population, it is still subject to various types of discrimination.<\/p>\n\n

The individual chapters were authored by NGOs:<\/p>\n\n

The Campaign Against Homophobia Association, the Dziewuchy Dziewuchom Foundation, the Ocalenie Foundation, the Afryka Inaczej Foundation, the Jewish Association Czulent and the Jewish Community of Warsaw. Journalists are encouraged to take benefit from the broad knowledge of their experts.<\/p>\n\n

We invite all recipients of the Manual to support our partners through participation in the activities they initiate, by volunteering and financially supporting them.<\/p>\n\n

We also encourage you to share our publication. The manual is available under a CC license. <\/p>\n\n
