Coalition in the Fight Against Antisemitism and Xenophobia

Activities carried out within the project focused on increasing the effectiveness of countering antisemitism and xenophobia by building sustainable coalitions and cross-sector alliances. The project complemented and expanded the initiative “Nationality, ethnicity, and coalition-building: a mechanism for cooperation among minority groups in Poland,” strengthening its outcomes and broadening its scope of impact.

As part of the project, the Jewish Association Czulent planned and implemented three complementary components of activities:

  1. Local training sessions – focused on increasing knowledge, developing competencies, and strengthening cooperation between minority organizations and public administration.
  2. Catalogue of minority experts – a publication prepared in digital (PDF) format, available in Polish and English, presenting experts from national and ethnic minorities representing various fields of knowledge and practice
  3. National conference – dedicated to the current challenges faced by national and ethnic minorities, as well as the exchange of experiences and good practices

Across all components of the project, particular attention was given to issues of hate speech and bias-motivated crimes. The activities focused on leveraging cooperation between national and ethnic minorities, migrant communities, and local and state administration as a key mechanism for increasing the effectiveness of the initiatives undertaken.

As part of the local training sessions, participants were presented with concrete opportunities to engage in municipal programs aimed at countering antisemitism and xenophobia. Mechanisms operating at the local level were also introduced, enabling the effective articulation of the needs of minority communities and the implementation of public policies that respond to those needs.

In implementing the project, the Jewish Association Czulent applied a proven methodology for coalition-building and identifying allies, developed by ODIHR/OSCE and described in the publication “Coalition Building for Tolerance and Non-Discrimination: A Practical Guide.” This made it possible to base the activities on international standards and effective tools for strengthening cooperation in support of equality and countering discrimination.

The project confirmed the role of the Jewish Association Czulent as an organization that initiates and develops innovative models of cooperation between minority communities and public institutions.
