History online: Future skills against disinformation.

In recent years, we have observed a growing trend of using historical narratives in disinformation campaigns that influence the shape of public debate and deepen social divisions. False accounts of the past are used to legitimize prejudice against minorities, undermine social solidarity, and weaken trust in democratic institutions. Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, as well as the distortion of historical truth about the Holocaust, demonstrate how manipulation of the information space and the creation of false historical narratives can lead to the reproduction and reinforcement of prejudice, thereby affecting social security.

The project includes an analysis of the digital environment in the context of historical disinformation, as well as a series of workshops aimed at representatives of public administration, cultural institutions, and non-governmental organizations. Participants will gain knowledge on how to identify false information, respond to illegal content, and communicate challenges related to disinformation.

Project materials and results

The project was launched in January 2026. We are currently conducting research on the distortion of historical narratives related to the Holocaust and those targeting the Ukrainian community in Poland.
