On Friday, June 7, we participated in the Google.org Impact Challenge on Safety workshops at the Google Campus. We had the opportunity to talk with experts in the fields of extremism, hate, and child safety from the ISD Institute for Strategic Dialogue and Ashoka.
The Google.org Impact Challenge on Safety program was created to support European non-governmental organizations that combat hate and extremism while promoting child safety both online and offline. As part of the program, organizations can apply for funding from a total fund of €10 million. The goal of the fund is to support social projects across Europe, contributing to the fight against extremism and helping young people navigate the digital world safely and freely.
Experts on issues of extremism, hatred and child safety emphasize that educational efforts online and offline are of great importance. Google.org supports experts and communities across Europe with educational programs, community projects and the creation of innovative technologies to help evoke an open and consistent social response.
