Strategic litigation – changing the system through law

One of the key areas of activity of the Jewish Association Czulent is strategic litigation—a tool that not only helps individuals experiencing violence and discrimination, but also drives systemic change in the law and in the practices of public institutions.

Whty we do it?

We see how difficult it is today to seek justice online—especially in cases of crimes motivated by prejudice. Hate speech on the internet, particularly when directed at individuals because of their ethnic origin, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, often goes unpunished. Our goal is to change this—through concrete court cases that set new standards and demonstrate that the law can be effective.

What do we want to achieve?

Our activities focus on four main objectives:

• Effective prosecution of perpetrators of online crimes—we want judgments to be delivered more quickly.
• Professionalization of law enforcement activities—we support the development of digital competencies within the police and prosecution services so that online cases are not trivialized.
• Recognition of digital evidence in legal proceedings—we advocate for screenshots, archives, and online monitoring to be treated as fully valid evidence in court.

Counteracting Holocaust denial

A key focus of our work is counteracting Holocaust denial. We monitor online content that denies the Holocaust, analyze the actions of institutions responsible for prosecuting such crimes (including the Institute of National Remembrance), and intervene where the state falls short. Our goal is to ensure that the memory of the victims of the Holocaust is protected also in the digital space.
