Comprehensive strategy for countering antisemitic hate speech in the public sphere

The Jewish Association Czulent is implementing a comprehensive, three-year programme aimed at systematically combating antisemitism in the Polish public sphere. Our initiative combines direct support for victims with advocacy activities, creating a safer environment for the Jewish community and promoting the standards of a democratic rule-of-law state.

Key aims of the project

As part of our activities, we focus on six priority areas:

  • Increasing awareness within the Jewish community about antisemitic hate speech and its consequences
  • Development of tools for identifying and reporting hate speech, particularly online and in public debate
  • Establishing a support system for individuals reporting bias-motivated crimes
  • Conducting advocacy activities aimed at developing systemic responses to antisemitism
  • Building alliances among organizations and institutions countering hate speech motivated by prejudice, including antisemitism
  • Raising awareness among policymakers and local authorities about the threats posed by antisemitism

Three pillars of our strategy

Our activities are based on expert legal and sociological knowledge, divided into three main pillars:

1. Professional legal assistance

We provide comprehensive legal support to individuals affected by antisemitism. We accompany victims at every stage-from preparing a notification of a suspected crime, through the investigative proceedings, to representation in court. Our goal is to eliminate procedural errors and ensure a sense of security for those affected.

2. Strategic litigation and education

We use strategic litigation to influence changes in case law and shape standards of protection against bias-motivated crimes through selected court cases. At the same time, we carry out educational activities by organizing workshops and conferences that promote best practices in prosecuting hate crimes.

3. Advocacy and systemic collaboration

We create a platform for the exchange of experiences between civil society organizations, legal professionals, and public administration bodies. Our advocacy activities, directed at policymakers and local authorities, aim to ensure the lasting inclusion of combating antisemitism in the public agenda.
