I Am From Here – Poland of Many Nations.

The project “I Am From Here – Poland of Many Nations” is an educational initiative implemented by the Jewish Association Czulent, aimed at raising awareness of Poland’s multicultural heritage and counteracting stereotypes and prejudice against national and ethnic minorities. The project is primarily addressed to school youth and uses modern visual education tools and participatory methods, strengthening social competences, critical thinking, and attitudes of openness.

International education and countering discrimination

A central element of the project is an educational exhibition, which serves as a tool for exploring issues of identity, diversity, and majority–minority relations. The project responds to the need for reliable intercultural education and for building an inclusive narrative of Poland as a country of many traditions, languages, and experiences. Activities carried out במסגרת the project strengthen social and civic competences and position the association as an expert in the field of anti-discrimination education.

Exhibition on national and ethnic minorities in Poland

The exhibition consists of two complementary parts. The individual section presents portraits of 15 representatives of national and ethnic minorities in Poland, including Belarusian, Lithuanian, Roma, Tatar, Ukrainian, Jewish, and Kashubian communities. The visual material is complemented by photographs documenting community life and excerpts from interviews, which reveal the complexity of the subjects’ identities, their experiences, and their relationships with the majority society. The descriptive section (developed in subsequent stages of the project) presents the history and culture of minorities in Poland, enabling a more in-depth analysis of their presence.

Modern methods: peer education and youth engagement

An important element of the project is an approach based on peer education. After appropriate preparation, students themselves take on the role of exhibition guides and co-create educational activities. This form of work increases youth engagement, develops communication skills, and supports active, experience-based learning.

Educational platform and online teaching materials

The project has been complemented by a digital platform, www.jestemstad.pl, which serves as support for teachers and educators. The website contains the full iconographic and textual material available in the exhibition, as well as additional educational resources on national and ethnic minorities in Poland, enabling students to work independently.

Social impact and building a society open to diversity

“I Am From Here – Poland of Many Nations” is an example of a comprehensive intercultural education project that combines offline and online activities, as well as expert knowledge with participants’ lived experiences. The project supports the development of a society that is aware of its diversity and grounded in the values of equality, dialogue, and mutual respect.
