The Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) established an international team whose aim was to monitor the internet for ongoing information campaigns that could influence the elections to the European Parliament.
This is a preliminary report presenting the conclusions resulting from the conducted monitoring. ISD is currently working on the full research report.
In the Polish elections to the EU, ISD’s research revealed a network of 803 “sock-puppet” accounts (accounts that create identities matching the target audience) and suspicious bots spreading antisemitic and pro-Russian messages. The network published over 92,000 antisemitic messages over the past year. Many of these focused on disinformation about alleged Jewish “crimes” during World War II, including claims that the Soviet Army’s massacre of Polish soldiers in Katyn was carried out by Jews.
